Draft Flood and Water Management Bill consultation

A draft Flood and Water Management Bill for England and Wales was laid before Parliament on 21 April 2009. Once the Bill is made into a law, it will for the first time, cover all forms of flooding and change the importance placed upon building defences to managing risk.  

The draft Bill and consultation paper cover all the legislation necessary for the Welsh Assembly Government to implement our policies laid out in the Environment Strategy for Wales and the Strategic Water Policy Position Statement.

The deadline for consultation responses on the draft Bill is 24 July 2009.
