The Business Rate Supplements Bill, currently being scrutinised by Parliament, makes provision for County Councils, Unitary District Councils and Greater London Authority to levy a supplement on the business rate. Authorities will be able to use the proceeds to fund additional projects to promote the economic development of their local areas.

This consultation paper sets out the Government's proposals for the ballot and administration arrangements for Business Rate Supplements and invites stakeholders' views.

Timeframe

This consultation started on 13th May 2009 and ended on 19th August 2009.
