Modernising Powers, Deterrents and Safeguards: Payments, Repayments and Debt

This consultation document responds to earlier consultation and proposes four changes to the statutory framework which together would make it easier for taxpayers to pay what they owe and for HMRC to collect tax debts. Draft Legislation and an Impact Assessment have been published alongside this document. Draft Legislation that proposes to align HMRC's power in Scotland to make a single application to the sheriff for a summary warrant was published on 19 February 2008. Paragraph 2.10 of the consultation document refers.

This consultation started on 10th January 2008 and ended on 6th March 2008.
